Devant cet état de choses, Pravind Jugnauth a annoncé que la Gambling Regulatory Authority a été appelée à se pencher sur des amendements à la loi pour prévenir de tels événements. De son côté, le leader de l’opposition Paul Bérenger n’a pu taire son étonnement devant l’absence de mesures de sécurité prises par les autorités pour un tel événement surtout en raison des risques.
Ce tournoi de poker a été organisé par la Million Poker Paradise Limited, une compagnie locale sélectionnée par les World Series of Poker (Las Vegas) et La Française des Jeux.  » The satellite international Poker tournament was a one-off tourism event and, therefore, no gaming license was issued by the Gambling Regulatory Authority. The event did not fall under the ambit of the GRA Act as listed under section 6 © of the Act « , a déclaré le ministre des Finances à l’Assemblée nationale hier après-midi. Le tournoi s’est déroulé du 26 mars au 3 avril derniers à l’hôtel Le Paradis Hotel & Golf Club.
