Les travaux liés au projet pharaonique de la route de liaison La Vigie-La Brasserie-Beaux-Songes, menant vers la phase 3 (fly-over de Flic-en-Flac), entame sa dernière ligne droite. En atteste la construction de l’autopont surplombant l’autoroute M1, à hauteur de La Vigie, qui a atteint les 85%. Il devrait être opérationnel vers mi-avril.
Le ministre des Infrastructures nationales, Ajay Gunness, a visité le site mercredi. Il a soutenu que « this project will enhance traffic fluidity and contribute to alleviate traffic congestion, thereby easing the lives of road users and motorists. The flyover, which has reached 85% completion, will enable the northbound and southbound traffic along Motorway M1 to be segregated from local traffic from the New La Vigie-La Brasserie-Beaux Songes Link Road. Thus, road users will not be required to undertake a detour through La Vigie roundabout to go towards the south from the New La Vigie-La Brasserie-Beaux Songes Link Road or through Midland’s flyover. »
Ajay Gunness s’est aussi rendu à Trianon, où un pont piétonnier est actuellement au stade préliminaire de construction sur la M1, près de l’usine Margarine Industries Ltd. À l’instar de l’autopont de La Vigie, c’est la firme General Construction qui s’attelle aux travaux, au coût de Rs 20 millions, qui devraient être complétés le mois prochain. « The construction of the footbridge at Trianon will contribute to ensuring the safety of pedestrians crossing the road. It will have features similar to that of the bridge near the Victoria Urban Terminal in Port Louis », a fait ressortir le ministre de tutelle.
