In a recent note I expressed the opinion the coming electoral campaign likely to be a scrappy and heated one with its fair dose of acrimoniousness given the little army to contest, among it some already in electoral campaigning and apparently determined to put on a tough fight, already fine-tuning the heavy artillery, to fire broadsides at both incumbent rulers and other challengers alike, with the war cry, as it were, of ‘ni Navin, ni Pravind’, given animosities that have taken root over the recent past, albeit with meagre chances to get through if previous voting patterns are anything to go by, albeit I will not be the least surprised should there be a major shift in that pattern ‘this time’. A campaign apparently to be preceded by some unexpected and stunning manoeuvres to pale the like of the withdrawal of the PMSD from l’Alliance de l’Espoir.
We have already had ‘un avant goût’ with the sudden dumping of Zorro and his replacement by ‘celui que l’on n’attendait pas’, a Speaker reportedly in already electoral campaigning, itself a forerunner sign of other stunning developments to confirm that in politics everything is possible, from dubious manoeuvres through lowering of pants to ‘adorer ce qu’on avait brûlé ».
If some rumours afloat, albeit in restricted circulation – which nevertheless reached me in my capacity as a regular contributor to ‘Forum’ -, are to be taken seriously, but which I will not venture to expose in these columns inasmuch as there is no possibility to verify their accuracies, ‘on n’est pas au bout de nos surprises’. Yet, as goes the saying ‘no smoke without fire’.
At this point of time we are not sure as to what will be the final battle alignment for the coming General Elections, manifestly to be a watershed in more than one respect, and likely to be preceded by events to make some recent plot twists only ‘reklam’ in comparison to what apparently to unfold. And there could be some scramble for cover, stabbings in the back, and tears and gnashing of teeth by a few who recently were ‘plus royalistes que le … Tsar’.
We are not that far away to know the verdict of the polls, and I have chosen this short outing from my watchtower post to enjoy and comment on ‘quelques belles envolées’ for which some of our politicians have the secret. And I particularly appreciated that flash of wit from the Leader of the ‘Reform Party’ …Enn fwa pou tou bizin ferme met kadna dan Jurassic Park’. More that the little local ‘park will be closed soon’ – this short note not the appropriate time or place, so as not to mix issues, to expound on that, a note meant only to remind the regular readers, towards whom I have an oft-made commitment, I am still around -, but not as the Leader of the Reform Party views it.
So much so for this time, while I’ll prepare to join in the fray, to deep-dive in the tsunami of comments and analyses inevitably to come before and once the great bout is over.
One little prediction to conclude: the brunt of the barrage of artillery from Opposition forces likely soon to shift from the Tsar and ‘lakwizinn’, or, at best, equally shared, to a duo ‘ki pe pran tou dimoun pou kouyon’, attempting to ‘manz banann dan …. trwa bout’!, also awkwardly trying to step in the shoes of the other ‘Papa’ who was manifestly of another calibre. Marke, garde!
