XLD : Why within 24 hours he buys substantial, one under restricted bidding which we accept for Rs 9.30 and another one under direct procurement for Rs 70 more per pill, for 1 million?
KJ : We should also look at the time. Mr Speaker Sir. Is it so that we must wait for the medication to be received in Mauritius at a later time when we know that there are so many patients being tested positive ? Mr Speaker Sir, the leader of the opposition, if this medication would not have been available to the Mauritian patients, he would have come with the question telling me since this medication is available Mauritius and there are companies supplying, why haven’t the ministry procured the medication immediately knowing that the deaths are increasing.
XLD : Resign !
KJ : The leader of the opposition sees everything negative in what we are doing. Imagine what he would have come and say. It is the same argument be it for the vaccine, for the PCR tests, for the reagents. This medication if for life saving. That’s all I have to say…
XLD : Why is it that himself, his SCE, his officers have flouted their own regulations that he approved in Cabinet two weeks ago.
KJ : All the irregularities he is pointing out, he will have to go to the authorities… I am inviting him. He has to go and tell them that this is irregular
XLD : Why he didn’t contact Mauritius Pharmacy the next day or the other suppliers ? Why did he not ? The price he has paid to CPN Distributors is far higher?
KJ : The other companies had not been able to supply immediately.
XLD : I will ask the Minister and the Prime Minister to grant a Select Committee of the House to look at the whole dirty process of the ministry of Health and government since last year, where billion of rupees of public funds have been siphoned off.
KJ: Whatever allegations he is making now, he should go outside and make it to the police and ICAC.
