For Russia, Independence Day of the Republic of Mauritius symbolizes the unity of the people who have created a multinational and multi-confessional country, becoming an example of the successful construction of a multicultural nation and the spirit of patriotism and freedom.
Moscow has always supported the will of the Mauritian people, who chose true liberty from the colonizers 57 years ago.
It has always been a challenging path, a prominent and responsible choice of the people made in 1968 when Sir S.Ramgoolam decided to bring the nation towards independence, sovereignty, and prosperity.
From the very first days, Moscow’s and Port Louis’s relations have been amicable. Our country has been contributing to Mauritius’ welfare through educational programs, cultural exchanges, and in the international arena. We are always ready for constructive and mutually beneficial dialogue.
